Staying Inspired Over The Holidays
It’s Good To Let Go
The week between Christmas and the New Year is one time we all know that the industry slows down and, for once, we don’t have any obligations. There are no emails to send, no phone calls to make-this time is ours. So, to all the worriers out there: it’s good to let go.
Manifestation principles teach us that visualizing our goals is like planting seeds. But once you plant them, it’s important not to constantly check the soil to see if they are growing. Don’t overwater them. Trust the process, let go, and allow nature to take its course.
If you’re looking to stay inspired while your seeds take root, here are some ideas:
Do Something New
Trying something new doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes the voice of your inner child will whisper ideas like:
Visit a museum or local art gallery.
Spend time in a bookstore, antique shop, or novelty store.
Take a solitary walk and take photographs.
Draw or paint something.
Finally try a cool recipe you saved on your phone months ago.
Practice Gratitude
As we reflect on the past year, it’s easy to focus on what we didn’t accomplish and forget about the things we did. Practicing gratitude shifts our focus from what’s missing to what’s already here.
Start by making a list of things you’re grateful for. You might feel some resistance or even frustration at first, but try to push through. Start small with obvious things—“I’m grateful for breathing,” for example. It may sound silly, but it works! You’ll likely find that once you start, your list grows long, and you’ll finish feeling lighter and more hopeful.
Read
You may already be way ahead of me on this one. Looking for ideas? Here are a few:
Read 3 new plays that you haven’t encountered before, or ones you’ve always wanted to read.
Dive into the novel that you never had time to finish.
Explore self-help books, or inspirational books on spirituality.
Indulge in a guilty pleasure: a good mystery, espionage, or graphic novel.
One of my favorites is memoirs. Better yet, choose a memoir of someone you find inspirational - maybe even someone who you’d love to portray in a movie. It doesn’t have to be an actor; it can be any person from history who piques your interest.
Charge Your Batteries
As we look ahead to the new year, we know it will bring plenty of busy, fulfilling work. That’s why it’s so important to recharge now. Take this time to rest, relax, and find some inspiration.
Wishing you all a joyful holiday season full of rest, renewal, and plenty of creative energy!
